Pelicans vs Nets Wednesday, Oct. 19, 7:30 p.m. ET
The Nets are +500 to win the Eastern Conference, so they aren’t as highly regarded in 2022-23 compared to last season. However, we expect big things from Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
Nets Focusing on Basketball
There have been plenty of distractions for the Nets, including Irving’s various transgressions, but the focus should be on basketball.
They were +120 favorites to win the East last season, so they’re expected to not match up against the likes of the Milwaukee Bucks and Bucks Celtics. However, we wouldn’t give up on the Nets, especially against the Pelicans.
Having Durant and Irving on the floor at the same time as an impressive two-headed monster. If they play well together, it could see the Nets going to the promised land.
Pelicans vs Nets Head-to-Head
It’s a tight series between the Pelicans and Nets. The Nets have a 22-20 advantage, having won seven consecutive games.
It has been one-sided since 2019, but the Pelicans were rebuilding for most of that time.
We think bookmakers are being generous with the -3 line for the Nets. They come up against a nice Pelicans roster, but playing on the road isn’t ideal for them. Durant could have a big scoring day, Irving always plays well and Simmons has a point to prove. Everything sets up for a Nets cover.
