Denver Nuggets vs Cleveland Cavaliers

Joe D'Amico Pick - In my opinion, this is just about the most interesting matchup on the board this evening. Coming out of All-Star break into the second half of the campaign, I judge certain teams on how they went into the break. And in all honesty, the Cavaliers went into the break red-hot, winning seven of the last eight straight up and covering six of those eight, my friends. With all respect to the Nuggets, which have won seven of nine both straight up and against the spread, going into the intermission, I really like the Cavs in the second half of the season to surprise many.

This is a team possessing a very impressive 25-6 mark at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. If you look at the difference of Denver’s home record as opposed to their away record, it is significant. They are 27-4 when hosting. But when they travel, they are playing just .500 ball at 14-14. The Cavs took two of the last three meetings, both straight up and against the spread. The most recent, a home win for the Nuggets 121-108, back in early-January. However, Donovan Mitchell did not take the floor in that match up. So that changes a lot when looking at that game guys. I don’t know if you realize it, but Cleveland has not reached the playoffs without King James on the roster in 25 years.

I feel Mitchell is the spark that this team needed and he has the rest of the squad believing not just that they could win in the playoffs, but possibly get to the Finals. Both teams can score. But I gave an edge defensively to the Cavs here. And I look for them to avenge the early season loss, redeem themselves and start the second half of the campaign off the way they finished the first half. I like the Cavaliers.
